As an extension to the Kasane Redevelopment Project, K+CO were approached to engage with the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) to look at design strategies and investment models to aid in the upgrading of the border towns of Kasane and Kazungula into a major international and domestic tourist hub. The design focuses on the improvement of the environment and urban infrastructure in order to make the towns attractive places to visit and live. K+CO worked with a diverse team of Engineers, Planners and Economists.
MAIN PROJECT FEATURES
- Development of a guidelines and design strategies to improve transport and movement within the towns, including road upgrades, NMT strategies, boat movement along the rivers and a series of new marinas and boat maintenance facilities.
- A focus on upgrading the public realm to create safe and enjoyable streetscapes and public amenities for use by both local residents and international tourists
